Key Responsibilities
  • Provide intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, including operation of invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices.
  • Evaluate patients and recommend treatment plans; explain procedures, treatments, and equipment to patients and provide discharge education.
  • Perform chest physiotherapy, suctioning, oximetry, capnography monitoring, pulmonary function studies, and routine chest x-ray review.
  • Assist with respiratory-related procedures including bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomy, chest tube placement, and tracheostomy care including tube insertion and removal.
  • Perform arterial punctures, 12-lead EKGs, basic arrhythmia recognition, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation per BLS and ACLS guidelines.
  • Set up, self-test, operate, and monitor mechanical ventilation equipment; maintain accurate respiratory therapy records, patient charting, and charge documentation.
Required Qualifications
  • Active Respiratory Therapist license in good standing.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in arterial puncture, endotracheal intubation (freehand and/or video laryngoscope), and tracheostomy management.
  • Ability to perform pulmonary function studies, oximetry, and capnography monitoring per established policy.
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Experience in moderate complexity laboratory testing including specimen handling, quality controls, and documentation.
  • Familiarity with PleurX catheter drainage or similar chest drainage devices.
  • Experience with shift-to-shift walking rounds and hands-off communication protocols.
