Key Responsibilities

• Provide intensive respiratory care including administration of prescribed medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation using invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizers
• Perform arterial puncture, oximetry, capnography monitoring, pulmonary function studies, chest physiotherapy, and patient suctioning via oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal methods
• Operate, set up, and monitor mechanical ventilation equipment; assist with preventative maintenance and repair as needed
• Assist with respiratory-related procedures including bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, chest tube placement, and tracheostomy care including insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes
• Perform BLS and ACLS cardiopulmonary resuscitation, 12-Lead EKG, basic arrhythmia recognition, and endotracheal tube insertion and removal
• Document all treatments, patient responses, and respiratory therapy charges accurately; communicate findings to attending and pulmonary physicians and participate in shift-to-shift handoff communication

Required Qualifications

• Active Respiratory Therapist license or eligibility to practice in Ohio
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision within the scope of professional licensure
• Experience operating a variety of ventilatory and respiratory care equipment

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with moderate complexity laboratory testing procedures including specimen handling, quality controls, and documentation
• Familiarity with video laryngoscope systems for endotracheal intubation
• Experience with PleurX catheter or similar chest drainage devices
