Job Title

Respiratory Therapist – Night Shift

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, including operation of invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices.
  • Evaluate patients and recommend treatment plans; explain procedures, treatments, and equipment to patients and provide discharge education.
  • Perform chest physiotherapy, suctioning (oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal), oximetry and capnography monitoring, pulmonary function studies, and arterial puncture.
  • Perform 12-Lead EKG, basic arrhythmia recognition, tracheostomy care, and insertion/removal of endotracheal and tracheostomy tubes.
  • Assist with respiratory-related procedures such as bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, and chest tube placement; perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation per BLS and ACLS guidelines.
  • Accurately document all treatments, patient responses, and respiratory therapy charges; communicate patient status during shift-to-shift handoff rounds.
Required Qualifications
  • Active Respiratory Therapist license valid in the state of Ohio.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification.
  • Demonstrated competency with mechanical ventilation setup, operation, and monitoring across various equipment types.
  • Ability to perform arterial puncture and interpret results to assess ventilation efficiency.
  • Experience performing pulmonary function studies and routine chest x-ray review.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision within the scope of professional licensure.
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Experience in a moderate complexity laboratory setting, including specimen handling, quality controls, and documentation.
  • Familiarity with PleurX catheter drainage and video laryngoscope systems.
  • Prior travel or contract assignment experience in a hospital or acute care setting.
