Respiratory Therapist – Night Shift

Key Responsibilities- Provide intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, operating invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices
- Conduct physician-prescribed respiratory treatments including chest physiotherapy, suctioning, oximetry and capnography monitoring, pulmonary function studies, and arterial puncture
- Perform tracheostomy care including insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes, and assist with procedures such as bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, and chest tube placement
- Perform 12-Lead EKG, basic arrhythmia recognition, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation per BLS and ACLS guidelines
- Set up, self-test, operate, and monitor mechanical ventilation equipment; assist with preventative maintenance and repair as needed
- Accurately document all treatments, patient responses, and respiratory therapy charges; communicate patient status during shift-to-shift handoff rounds
Required Qualifications- Active Respiratory Therapist license within the applicable state
- Current BLS and ACLS certification
- Demonstrated ability to operate invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment with minimal supervision
- Proficiency in arterial puncture, endotracheal intubation via free-hand technique and/or video laryngoscope, and tracheostomy management
- Ability to perform and interpret pulmonary function studies and routine chest x-ray review
Preferred Experience / Skills- Experience in a moderate complexity laboratory setting with knowledge of specimen handling, quality controls, and documentation protocols
- Familiarity with PleurX catheter drainage procedures
- Experience providing patient and family education regarding respiratory treatments and home discharge instructions
