Key Responsibilities- Provide intensive respiratory care including operation of invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices as physician prescribed
- Perform arterial punctures, oximetry and capnography monitoring, pulmonary function studies, chest physiotherapy, and patient suctioning via various methods
- Assist with respiratory-related procedures including bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, chest tube placement, and tracheostomy care including tube insertion and removal
- Perform 12-Lead EKG, basic arrhythmia recognition, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation in accordance with BLS and ACLS guidelines
- Set up, self-test, operate, and monitor mechanical ventilation equipment; assist with preventative maintenance and repair as needed
- Accurately document all treatments, patient responses, and respiratory therapy charges; communicate patient status during shift-to-shift handoff rounds
Required Qualifications- Active Respiratory Therapist license within the applicable state scope of practice
- Current BLS and ACLS certification
- Proficiency with invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment and respiratory care modalities
- Ability to perform arterial punctures, interpret results, and conduct pulmonary function studies
- Ability to perform endotracheal intubation via freehand technique and/or video laryngoscope system
Preferred Experience / Skills- Experience in a moderate complexity laboratory setting with knowledge of specimen handling, quality controls, and documentation requirements
- Experience with PleurX catheter drainage and chest x-ray review for clinical evaluation
- Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced clinical environment
