Respiratory Therapist (Night Shift)

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide intensive respiratory care including operation of invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices as physician-prescribed
  • Perform arterial punctures, suctioning, chest physiotherapy, tracheostomy care, and insertion/removal of endotracheal and tracheostomy tubes
  • Conduct oximetry, capnography, pulmonary function studies, 12-Lead EKG, and basic arrhythmia recognition per policy
  • Assist with respiratory-related procedures such as bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, and chest tube placement
  • Set up, self-test, operate, and monitor mechanical ventilation equipment; assist with preventative maintenance and repair as needed
  • Document all treatments, patient responses, and respiratory therapy charges accurately; communicate findings during shift-to-shift handoff and with attending physicians
Required Qualifications
  • Active Respiratory Therapist license within scope of professional practice
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification
  • Proficiency with invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment and respiratory care modalities
  • Ability to perform arterial punctures and interpret results to assess ventilation efficiency
  • Competency in performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation per BLS and ACLS guidelines
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Experience with video laryngoscope systems for endotracheal intubation
  • Familiarity with moderate complexity laboratory testing protocols including pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic phases
  • Experience with PleurX catheter drainage or similar devices
