Key Responsibilities
  • Provide intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, including operation of invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices
  • Conduct physician-prescribed respiratory treatments, perform chest physiotherapy, suctioning, oximetry, capnography monitoring, and pulmonary function studies
  • Perform arterial punctures, 12-Lead EKGs, basic arrhythmia recognition, and routine review of patient chest x-rays
  • Assist with respiratory-related procedures including bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, chest tube placement, and tracheostomy care including tube insertion and removal
  • Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation per BLS and ACLS guidelines, including endotracheal tube insertion and removal via freehand technique and/or video laryngoscope
  • Document all treatments, patient responses, and respiratory therapy charges accurately in patient records and communicate findings to attending and pulmonary physicians
Required Qualifications
  • Active Respiratory Therapist license within the applicable state scope of practice
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification
  • Proficiency with mechanical ventilation setup, self-testing, operation, and monitoring across various equipment types
  • Ability to perform arterial punctures and interpret results to assess ventilation efficiency
  • Experience with tracheostomy care, endotracheal intubation, and airway management procedures
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Experience in moderate complexity laboratory testing including specimen handling, quality controls, and documentation
  • Familiarity with PleurX catheter drainage or similar chest drainage devices
  • Experience with video laryngoscope systems for endotracheal intubation
