Provide intensive respiratory care and patient transport into and out of the facility as medically prescribed, within the scope of professional license and with minimal supervision
Conduct physician-prescribed treatments operating various ventilatory equipment (invasive and non-invasive), oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices to administer prescribed medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation
Perform chest physiotherapy, suctioning (oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal), oximetry and capnography monitoring, pulmonary function studies, arterial puncture, and 12-Lead EKG with basic arrhythmia recognition
Perform tracheostomy care including insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes (emergent and non-emergent), as well as insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes via free-hand technique and/or video laryngoscope system
Assist with respiratory-related procedures such as bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, and chest tube placement; perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation per BLS and ACLS guidelines
Set up, self-test, operate, maintain, and monitor mechanical ventilation equipment; document all treatments and patient responses accurately in respiratory care records and patient chart
Required Qualifications
Active Respiratory Therapist license within the scope of professional practice
Current ACLS certification required
Ventilator experience required, including experience with the Hamilton C3 ventilator
Ability and comfort working independently with minimal supervision
Preferred Experience / Skills
Experience with bronchoscopy assistance, percutaneous tracheostomy procedures, and chest tube placement
Familiarity with moderate complexity laboratory testing policies and procedures including specimen handling, quality controls, and documentation
Experience performing PleurX catheter drainage or similar chest drainage devices
