Job Title

Respiratory Therapist – Night Shift

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, within the scope of professional licensure and with minimal supervision, including evaluating patients and recommending treatment plans.
  • Operate invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices to administer prescribed medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation; perform set-up, self-testing, and ongoing monitoring of all mechanical ventilation equipment.
  • Perform chest physiotherapy, oropharyngeal/nasal/tracheal suctioning, oximetry and capnography monitoring, pulmonary function studies, arterial punctures, and tracheostomy care including insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes.
  • Perform 12-Lead EKG with basic arrhythmia recognition, routine chest x-ray review, and assist with procedures such as bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomy, and chest tube placement.
  • Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation per BLS and ACLS guidelines, and perform insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes via freehand technique and/or video laryngoscope system.
  • Accurately document all treatments, patient responses, and respiratory therapy charges in the patient chart and respiratory care records; communicate effectively with attending and pulmonary physicians and participate in shift-to-shift handoff communication.
Required Qualifications
  • Active Respiratory Therapist license in good standing within the applicable state.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification.
  • Demonstrated competency in operating invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen delivery systems, and aerosol and nebulizer devices.
  • Ability to perform arterial punctures, pulmonary function studies, 12-Lead EKGs, and tracheostomy care procedures.
  • Strong documentation skills with experience recording treatments and patient responses in electronic or paper-based health records.
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Experience assisting with advanced procedures including bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomy, and chest tube placement.
  • Familiarity with moderate complexity laboratory testing protocols including specimen handling, quality controls, and result documentation.
  • Experience with PleurX catheter drainage or similar pleural drainage devices.
