Provide respiratory therapy services in a high-volume emergency department and Level I Trauma Center environment, including Neurotrauma, cardiovascular services, and medical/surgical ICU patients across adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations
Administer aerosol and medication delivery systems including mask, trach, MDI, and Medihaler; medications include Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Flovent, Pulmicort, Mucomyst, racemic epinephrine, inhaled Flolan, inhaled steroids, bicarbonate, and lidocaine
Perform ABG interpretation and manage ventilators including BiPAP, CPAP, HFNC, and mechanical ventilation weaning; troubleshoot high-pressure alarms using equipment such as Servo I, Servo U, V-60 BiPAP, Optiflow, iNOvent, and LTV1200
Perform airway management duties including extubation, oral/nasal airway placement, suctioning, sputum collection, and tracheostomy care
Set up and manage oxygen therapy and nebulizer systems including handheld, T-piece, trach collar, and ultrasonic configurations
Float within skillset as required and document all care using EPIC
Required Qualifications
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required; CRT not accepted
Active Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner license in Virginia or equivalent state license; candidates must obtain a 90-day temporary authorization while a permanent Virginia license is pending
Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
Minimum of one year of critical care experience in a high-volume ER or Level I Trauma Center setting
Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records required
Must be willing to work weekend shifts (every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week block), at least one holiday per 13-week contract, and float within skillset
Familiarity with robust Assess and Treat protocols and ventilator management and liberation policies
