Job Title

Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – Adults

Contract | Nights | 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | 4x12 and up to 26-week contracts available upon request

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide respiratory therapy services in a high-volume emergency department and Level I Trauma Center environment, including Neurotrauma, cardiovascular services, and medical/surgical ICU patients
  • Administer aerosol and medication delivery via mask, trach, MDI, and Medihaler; medications include Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Flovent, Pulmicort, Mucomyst, racemic epinephrine, inhaled Flolan, inhaled steroids, bicarbonate, and lidocaine
  • Perform ABG interpretation and manage ventilators including BiPAP, CPAP, HFNC, and mechanical ventilation weaning; troubleshoot high-pressure alarms
  • Provide airway management including extubation, oral/nasal airway placement, suctioning, sputum collection, and tracheostomy care
  • Set up and manage oxygen therapy and nebulizer systems including handheld, T-piece, trach collar, and ultrasonic devices
  • Float within skillset as required; document all patient care using EPIC
Required Qualifications
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required; CRT not accepted
  • Active Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner credential required; Virginia state license required or must obtain a 90-day temporary authorization while permanent Virginia license is pending
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Critical care experience in a high-volume ER or Level I Trauma Center setting required
  • Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records required
  • Experience with equipment including Servo I, Servo U, V-60 BiPAP, Optiflow heated high flow, iNOvent, and LTV1200
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Prior travel assignment experience preferred (minimum 1 year of travel experience)
  • Familiarity with robust Assess and Treat protocols, ventilator management, and liberation policies
