Key Responsibilities

• Perform accurate and complete respiratory assessments of patients, including initial screenings and age-, culture-, and psycho-socially appropriate reassessments
• Determine treatment requirements such as type, method, and duration of therapy in accordance with physician orders
• Monitor patients' physiological responses to therapy, including vital signs, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry changes, and consult with physicians if adverse reactions occur
• Prepare and administer respiratory medications, demonstrating knowledge of outcomes and side effects based on patient age and clinical condition
• Conduct cardiopulmonary function tests such as holter monitoring, cardiac monitoring, and lung capacity tests; adjust equipment for optimum results
• Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation in both electronic and chart form; maintain and calibrate department equipment

Required Qualifications

• Current professional licensure/certification required
• Current Illinois Respiratory Therapist License required
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• NRP certification required
• PALS certification required

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Minimum 1 year of experience in Respiratory Therapy preferred
• Strong computer skills with the ability to navigate EMR programs
