Provide intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, within the scope of professional licensure and with minimal supervision
Conduct physician-prescribed treatments utilizing invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices to administer prescribed medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation
Perform arterial punctures, oximetry, capnography monitoring, pulmonary function studies, 12-Lead EKG, and basic arrhythmia recognition according to policy
Perform tracheostomy care including insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes, as well as insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes via free-hand technique and/or video laryngoscope system
Assist with respiratory-related procedures such as bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, and chest tube placement; perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation per BLS and ACLS guidelines
Document all treatments, patient responses, and respiratory therapy charges accurately in patient records and communicate findings during shift-to-shift handoff rounds
Required Qualifications
Active and valid Respiratory Therapist license in the state of Michigan
