Key Responsibilities
  • Provide intensive respiratory care including administration of physician-prescribed treatments using invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices
  • Perform arterial punctures, oximetry and capnography monitoring, pulmonary function studies, chest physiotherapy, and patient suctioning via oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal methods
  • Operate, set up, and monitor mechanical ventilation equipment; perform insertion and removal of endotracheal and tracheostomy tubes in both emergent and non-emergent situations
  • Assist with respiratory-related procedures such as bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, and chest tube placement; perform tracheostomy care and PleurX catheter drainage where applicable
  • Perform 12-Lead EKG, basic arrhythmia recognition, routine chest x-ray review, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation per BLS and ACLS guidelines
  • Accurately document all treatments, patient responses, and respiratory therapy charges; communicate patient status during shift-to-shift handoff rounds
Required Qualifications
  • Active Respiratory Therapist license within the applicable state
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification
  • Proficiency with invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation equipment
  • Ability to perform arterial punctures, pulmonary function studies, and endotracheal intubation via freehand technique and/or video laryngoscope
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and within the full scope of professional licensure
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Experience in moderate complexity laboratory testing including specimen handling, quality controls, and documentation
  • Familiarity with PleurX catheter drainage procedures
  • Experience with patient transport into and out of a facility setting
