Provide intensive respiratory care including operation of invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices as medically prescribed
Perform ventilator management including setup, self-testing, monitoring, and weaning of patients on mechanical ventilation
Conduct arterial punctures, oximetry and capnography monitoring, pulmonary function studies, chest physiotherapy, and patient suctioning
Assist with procedures such as bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, chest tube placement, and tracheostomy care including tube insertion and removal
Perform 12-Lead EKG, basic arrhythmia recognition, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation per BLS and ACLS guidelines
Document all treatments, patient responses, and respiratory therapy charges accurately in the patient chart and respiratory care records
Required Qualifications
Active Respiratory Therapist license or certification as required by state
Current BLS and ACLS certification
Experience with ventilator weaning
Ability to operate and maintain a variety of ventilatory and respiratory care equipment
Ability to perform arterial punctures and interpret results to assess ventilation efficiency
Preferred Experience / Skills
Experience with moderate complexity laboratory testing procedures including pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic phases
Proficiency with video laryngoscope systems for endotracheal tube insertion and removal
Experience with PleurX catheter or similar chest drainage devices
