Key Responsibilities
  • Provide intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, including operation of invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices
  • Evaluate patients and recommend treatment plans; explain procedures, treatments, and equipment to patients and provide discharge education
  • Perform chest physiotherapy, suctioning (oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal), oximetry and capnography monitoring, and pulmonary function studies
  • Perform arterial punctures, 12-Lead EKGs, basic arrhythmia recognition, tracheostomy care, and insertion/removal of endotracheal and tracheostomy tubes
  • Assist with respiratory-related procedures such as bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, and chest tube placement; perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation per BLS and ACLS guidelines
  • Accurately document all treatments, patient responses, and respiratory therapy charges in patient records and charts; communicate findings to attending and pulmonary physicians
Required Qualifications
  • Active Respiratory Therapist license within the applicable state
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification
  • Proficiency with mechanical ventilation setup, operation, and monitoring across various equipment types
  • Ability to perform arterial punctures and interpret results to assess ventilation efficiency
  • Experience with moderate complexity laboratory testing protocols, including pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic phases (where applicable)
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Experience assisting with advanced procedures including bronchoscopy and video laryngoscopy
  • Familiarity with PleurX catheter drainage and chest physiotherapy techniques
  • Strong communication skills for shift-to-shift handoff reporting and interdisciplinary collaboration
