Contract | 13 Weeks | Night Shift | Every Other Weekend Commitment
Key Responsibilities
Evaluate patients and develop treatment plans; administer physician-prescribed respiratory treatments using invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizers
Perform chest physiotherapy, suctioning (oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal), oximetry and capnography monitoring, and pulmonary function studies
Perform arterial punctures, 12-Lead EKGs, basic arrhythmia recognition, and routine review of chest x-rays
Assist with respiratory-related procedures including bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, and chest tube placement; perform tracheostomy care including insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes
Set up, self-test, operate, and monitor mechanical ventilation equipment; assist with preventative maintenance and repair as needed
Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation per BLS and ACLS guidelines; perform endotracheal intubation via freehand technique and/or video laryngoscope
Required Qualifications
Active Respiratory Therapist license within the applicable state
Current BLS and ACLS certification
Proficiency with invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation
Ability to perform arterial punctures and interpret blood gas results
Experience with tracheostomy care and endotracheal intubation techniques
Ability to work with minimal supervision and communicate effectively with attending and pulmonary physicians
Preferred Experience / Skills
Experience in an intensive care or high-acuity respiratory care setting
Familiarity with moderate complexity laboratory testing protocols including specimen handling, quality controls, and documentation
Experience with PleurX catheter drainage or similar devices
