    Respiratory Therapist

    Contract | 13 Weeks | Night Shift | Every Other Weekend Commitment

    Key Responsibilities
    • Evaluate patients and develop treatment plans; administer physician-prescribed respiratory treatments using invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizers
    • Perform chest physiotherapy, suctioning (oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal), oximetry and capnography monitoring, and pulmonary function studies
    • Perform arterial punctures, 12-Lead EKGs, basic arrhythmia recognition, and routine review of chest x-rays
    • Assist with respiratory-related procedures including bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, and chest tube placement; perform tracheostomy care including insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes
    • Set up, self-test, operate, and monitor mechanical ventilation equipment; assist with preventative maintenance and repair as needed
    • Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation per BLS and ACLS guidelines; perform endotracheal intubation via freehand technique and/or video laryngoscope
    Required Qualifications
    • Active Respiratory Therapist license within the applicable state
    • Current BLS and ACLS certification
    • Proficiency with invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation
    • Ability to perform arterial punctures and interpret blood gas results
    • Experience with tracheostomy care and endotracheal intubation techniques
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision and communicate effectively with attending and pulmonary physicians
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Experience in an intensive care or high-acuity respiratory care setting
    • Familiarity with moderate complexity laboratory testing protocols including specimen handling, quality controls, and documentation
    • Experience with PleurX catheter drainage or similar devices
