Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an ICU Float position requiring SD or compact RN license and prior medical-surgical or progressive care experience.

Details

• Acute care setting in a combined 30-bed medical-surgical unit and 8-bed progressive care unit within the Central Resource Pool
• Unit flexes up to 41 beds and includes both COVID and non-COVID wings depending on census
• Patient population includes pneumonia, COPD, CHF, COVID-19, pulmonary embolism, and complex respiratory cases
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3 in Pulmonary Acute for IMC RNs, 1:4-5 on day shifts, and 1:5-6 on night shifts
• 12-hour night shifts with straight, rotating, or blocked scheduling patterns
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Floating to Med-Surg units required, with travelers prioritized for reassignment
• Uses Epic for documentation, Alaris pumps for IV fluids, and Acudose for medication dispensing

Requirements

• Active SD or compact state RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA) required
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
• Medical-surgical patient care experience required
• Skills required include BiPAP, CPAP, heated high flow, oxygen titration, moderate sedation, and telemetry
• Specialty certification preferred
• BSN not required for this position

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing support including mechanical ventilation, chest tubes, tracheostomies, non-invasive ventilation, and postoperative care
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including case managers, social workers, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and physical therapists
• Unit-specific orientation includes competency validation, online modules, and preceptor-guided shifts over the first three days
• Navy blue scrubs required
• All clinicians must badge in and out at the facility
• Candidates with prior employment at this health system must have an end date at least 6 months before submission
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
