Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical/Neuro night shift position in Nashville, TN, requiring at least 2 years of Med/Surg experience and an active TN or Compact RN license.
Details
- Located in a hospital setting on a 20-bed Medical Surgical/Neuro unit (3rd Floor)
- Patient ratio of 6:1
- Tech support available on both day and night shifts; unit secretary available 7a-7p
- Equipment used includes IV pumps, telemetry, SCDs, continuous pulse ox machines, feeding pumps, PCA, EKG machines, bladder scanners, and iMobile communication technology
- Documentation system: Meditech
- Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week
- Two weekends (4 shifts) required per 4-week schedule
- Travelers are first to float when contract labor is scheduled; rotation applies when multiple contract staff are on shift
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active TN or Compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
- Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg experience required
- Proficiency in IV insertion, basic wound care, and maintenance of surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes
- Ability to prioritize care and multitask in a fast-paced environment
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- One professional reference required
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- The facility is an ACS Verified Level II Trauma Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center, and Certified Chest Pain Center
- Candidates are expected to provide attentive, compassionate care, conduct bedside shift reports, and actively include patients and family members in the plan of care
- Navy scrubs (tops and bottoms) required
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
