Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry - Oncology position requiring a minimum of 2 years of RN experience, Epic proficiency, and an active OH or compact RN license.
Details
- Inpatient Med/Surg Telemetry unit with an oncology focus
- Patient population includes those receiving chemotherapy, soft tissue malignancy treatment, symptom management, and comorbidity management, with a heavy emphasis on infection prevention and fall prevention protocols
- Continuous cardiac monitoring is a core component of patient care on this unit
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4
- Rotating 12-hour day and night shifts (7:00–19:30 days / 19:00–7:30 nights); shift assignment is determined by department needs and reviewed each 4-week scheduling period
- Floating required to units of equivalent or lower acuity
- Epic EMR — experience required
- Special equipment includes GE B450 telemetry monitors, bladder scanner, Alaris pumps, and Stryker beds
Requirements
- Active OH or compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Oncology experience preferred but not required
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred
- Required skills: telemetry/dysrhythmia interpretation, port access, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care and management, PICC line management, IV insertion, assisting with chest tube insertion/removal, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), and ABG interpretation
- 2 professional references required — at least 1 must be from a Manager, Director, or Supervisor; a Charge RN is acceptable as the 2nd reference; co-worker references are not accepted
Additional Information
- Local candidates are accepted
- Former facility employees are eligible for a travel assignment after a minimum 6-month separation from the facility
- All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront and built into the contract, with a maximum of 7 days
- Ohio state fingerprinting is required and must be completed promptly after booking — candidates outside Ohio may need to travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location or will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet to be completed urgently upon receipt
- Multiple parking permit options are available for purchase through CampusParc, including on-site garage access and budget surface lot options with shuttle service to the medical center
