Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele night shift position requiring active TN or compact RN license and prior unit experience.

Details

• Inpatient Med/Surg Tele unit specializing in stroke and TIA patients along with higher acuity med-surg cases
• Night shift schedule of 3x12 hours from 18:45 to 07:15
• Every other weekend coverage required
• Float to other units required based on facility census needs and staff competencies
• Staffing ratio of 1:6 on nights
• Adult and geriatric patient population
• Common diagnoses include stroke/TIA, seizure, syncope, pneumonia, chest pain, dialysis, acute kidney failure, post heart cath, respiratory failure, encephalopathy, CHF, and sepsis
• Unit performs peritoneal dialysis and continuous bladder irrigation
• Uses Omnicell medication system
• Epic EMR experience preferred

Requirements

• Active TN or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience in a Med/Surg Tele unit required
• Minimum 1 year of experience with Epic EMR required
• Previous charge nurse experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central line and PICC line management, and peripheral line care
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, and oxygen administration
• Experience managing cardiac drips (no titration), PCA, heparin, and insulin
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and telemetry remote monitoring
• Experience with continuous bladder irrigation and colostomy/ileostomy care
• Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac management

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to stroke, TIA, and higher acuity med-surg patients with a strong focus on patient experience
• Participate in rapid response and code team activities as needed
• Complete pre-assignment testing and required modules within 48 hours of receiving login credentials
• Orientation occurs every Monday
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this role
• Must maintain distance eligibility requirements from facility as defined by the healthcare system's travel policy
