Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Med/Surg Surgical Unit position at a Level 3 Trauma Center in Cape Girardeau, MO, requiring at least 1 year of post-surgical nursing experience.

Details

  • Work in a 23-bed Surgical Med/Surg unit (5H) within a 245-bed Level 3 Emergency and Trauma Center in Cape Girardeau, MO
  • Post-surgical patient population including urology, ortho, general surgery, and medical overflow
  • Patient ratio of 1:6
  • Night shift schedule, 7p–7a (19:00–07:00)
  • Every other weekend required (Saturday and Sunday); block scheduling may be accommodated based on unit needs
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating may be required to Med/Surg and Progressive units (customary)
  • EMR: Epic
  • Standard equipment including IV pumps

Requirements

  • Active MO or Compact RN license required
  • BLS certification required
  • Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg or post-surgical nursing experience required
  • Post-surgical experience required (not OR/intraoperative — post-recovery only)
  • No employment gaps of 90 or more days within the past 12 months
  • Valid U.S. Social Security Number required (Canadian SINs not accepted)
  • All certifications must be current with no expiration within the first 30 days of assignment unless documented renewal is scheduled

Additional Information

  • Responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing care including assessment, care planning, patient and family education, and monitoring for changing patient conditions
  • Must be willing to learn and take on charge nurse responsibilities
  • Peritoneal dialysis experience is preferred
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills are essential for this role
  • Black scrubs required
  • Flu vaccination is required for all travelers working between November 1 and April 1; exemptions must be client-approved
  • Up to 5 days of requested time off (RTO) allowed per 13-week contract; any time off must be made up during the assignment
  • Candidates are expected to work at least one major holiday per contract (Memorial Day, July 4th, or Labor Day; or Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year's Day)
  • Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but subject to a reduced pay rate
  • Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts; after that, a 1-year separation or transfer to a facility outside the 50-mile radius is required
  • The facility holds Comprehensive Cardiac Center Certification, Primary Stroke Center Certification, and Missouri Level I STEMI Center designation
