RN | Medical Oncology
Position: Registered Nurse – Medical Oncology Location: Des Moines, IA Contract: 13 weeks, with possibility of extension Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM Schedule: EOH / EOW (Every Other Holiday / Every Other Weekend)
Responsibilities
Provide direct nursing care to patients receiving treatment for cancer and other oncology-related conditions.
Assess, monitor, and document patients’ conditions, symptoms, and responses to treatment.
Administer medications, chemotherapy, and other treatments according to provider orders and facility protocols.
Monitor patients for treatment-related side effects and complications and promptly report changes in condition.
Manage IV therapy, central lines, and other oncology-related treatments as appropriate.
Provide patient and family education regarding treatment plans, medications, symptom management, and follow-up care.
Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
Follow infection-control, medication-safety, and patient-safety standards.
Requirements
Active RN license eligible to practice in Iowa.
Previous Medical Oncology/Oncology nursing experience required or strongly preferred.
Strong assessment, medication administration, and clinical documentation skills.
Experience caring for patients receiving chemotherapy and other cancer treatments preferred.
Strong communication and patient education skills.
Must be available for 7:00 AM–7:30 PM shifts.
Must work every other weekend and every other holiday.
13-week commitment required; extension may be available.
