Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist for a PICU position requiring 2-3 years of experience including at least 1 year in PICU or Pediatric CVICU.

Details

• Work in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at a teaching hospital
• Patient population includes NICU and pediatric critical care cases
• Uses Epic charting system
• Night shift (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:00) or Day shift (3x12 hours, 7:00-19:00)
• 36 hours per week on a 3x12 schedule
• Every other weekend required
• 50/50 rotation between days and nights based on department needs

Requirements

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required; CRT not accepted
• Massachusetts license required if applicable; pending MA license accepted
• BLS certification required
• PALS certification preferred
• Minimum 2-3 years of respiratory therapy experience with at least 1 year in PICU or Pediatric CVICU
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Proficient in ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, and SIMV
• Experience with neonatal/pediatric equipment including pressure/volume ventilators and bubble CPAP
• Skilled in airway management including intubation assist, extubation, and tracheostomy care/management
• Experience interpreting arterial blood gases (ABGs)
• Experience with nitric oxide (iNO) medication administration
• Two professional references required, verified from two different facilities among the last three places worked

Additional Information

• Provide respiratory therapy services to critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU
• Perform ventilator management, weaning, and troubleshooting of high pressure alarms
• Assist with intubation, extubation, and airway suctioning procedures
• Experience with high frequency jet ventilators and oscillators is preferred
• Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a different rate
