We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our school-based therapy team for the 2026–2027 school year. The COTA will work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to provide therapy services that support students in developing the functional skills necessary for success in the classroom and throughout the school environment.

This full-time opportunity is based at Black Street Early Childhood Center, where you will work primarily with children ages 3 to 5 years. The ideal candidate is passionate about early childhood development, enjoys working in a collaborative educational setting, and is committed to helping young learners reach their developmental and educational goals.

Position Details

  • School Year:2026–2027
  • Schedule:Full-Time, 37.5 hours per week
  • Location:Black Street Early Childhood Center
  • Student Population:Ages 3–5 years
  • Caseload: Approximately 32 students

Responsibilities

  • Implement individualized occupational therapy treatment plans developed by the supervising Occupational Therapist
  • Provide direct therapy services to preschool-aged students in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Support the development of fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-care skills, visual-motor integration, and classroom participation
  • Monitor student progress and communicate updates to the supervising Occupational Therapist
  • Assist with documenting treatment sessions, student progress, and therapy outcomes in accordance with school district and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with Occupational Therapists, teachers, special education staff, administrators, and families to support student success
  • Assist in implementing adaptive equipment and classroom modifications as recommended by the Occupational Therapist
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and engaging therapy environment
  • Foster positive relationships with students while promoting independence, participation, and developmental growth

Requirements

  • Required: Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
  • Required: Active South Carolina COTA license
  • Preferred: Previous experience in a school-based, pediatric, or early childhood setting
  • Knowledge of IEPs and school-based therapy practices is preferred
  • Strong communication, documentation, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Passion for working with young children and supporting their educational and developmental success
