Position/Specialty: Learning Specialist / Affective Needs Teacher
· Weekly Hours: 40 hours, 7:15 am - 3:30 pm
· Case Load: Currently 7, but could fluctuate by 1-2 students over the year
· Age Group: K-5
· Classroom Support: Specialized Program with 2 paras to support students within the AN room, as well as push-in to the general education classroom
· Special Requirements: Active teaching license with Experience administering and interpreting educational assessments, developing and implementing legally compliant IEPs, using data to inform instruction and decision-making, implementing positive behavior supports, Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs), and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs); collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and families; utilizing trauma-informed practices, restorative approaches, and crisis prevention/intervention strategies within a highly structured learning environment; and monitoring and reporting student progress
· Experience Required: At least 1–2 years of experience teaching or student teaching in a special education setting Experience supporting students with significant social, emotional, and behavioral needs through evidence-based instructional and behavioral practices; implementing positive behavior supports, de-escalation techniques, and crisis prevention/intervention strategies; differentiating instruction to meet diverse learner needs; collaborating effectively with general education staff, related service providers, administrators, and families; and fostering safe, inclusive, trauma-informed learning environments. Experience implementing FBAs and BIPs is preferred.
· Additional Valuable info to potential candidates: This position provides academic instruction in Reading, Writing, and Math, as well as Executive Functioning and Specialized Instruction in Behavior services. The teacher will support students with social, emotional, and behavioral needs through trauma-informed practices and positive behavior supports, while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and families to promote student success. The position includes developing and implementing individualized instructional and behavioral supports based on student needs and progress-monitoring data.
