Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU (SICU) travel position in Wichita, KS, requiring a minimum of 1 year of acute care ICU experience and ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications.
Details
- Work setting is a 26-bed Surgical ICU (SICU) on the 2nd floor of a large hospital in Wichita, KS
- Patient population includes trauma patients, post-CABG, post-TAVR, and general post-surgical ICU patients
- Patient ratio is 1:2, with 1:1 for high-acuity patients including post-CABG
- Common procedures include chest tube management, central line care, and medication drips
- Specialized equipment includes balloon pumps, CRRT, hypothermia systems, and ECMO
- EMR system is Meditech
- Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Unit is staffed with 13 RNs, 1 Charge Nurse, and 1 Patient Care Tech per shift
Requirements
- Active KS or Compact RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) — AHA or ARC accepted; certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start
- Minimum 1 year of recent acute care hospital ICU experience required
- US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration
- One professional reference required
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- TNCC certification is preferred
- Prior travel experience at large trauma facilities is preferred
- Ideal candidates are driven, organized, efficient, and maintain a positive, engaged attitude
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
- This is a 13-week travel contract
