Overview

As a SICU Registered Nurse, you will deliver advanced bedside care to high-acuity adult and geriatric patients with complex medical and surgical needs. You will work alongside a collaborative critical care team in a Surgical Intensive Care Unit where clinical confidence, strong assessment skills, and teamwork are essential to success.

Job Details

• Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse - SICU / Surgical Intensive Care Unit
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, with every other weekend
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Weekly Hours: 36
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,820 - $1,910
• Setting: High-acuity trauma center / Surgical Intensive Care Unit
• Location: Fredericksburg, VA 22401
• Start Date: 10/13/2026
• Charting: Epic preferred
• Floating: May float within scope to stepdown or other non-ICU areas as needed

Job Requirements

• Active Virginia RN license or compact RN license
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• 2+ years of recent ICU RN or SICU RN experience
• Community hospital experience required
• Experience with trauma, cardiac surgery, and complex medical-surgical patients
• Strong clinical skills in dysrhythmia interpretation, arterial line management, ventilator care, and blood product administration
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-acuity critical care environment
• TNCC and CSC certifications are a plus

Responsibilities

• Provide expert critical care nursing to critically ill surgical and trauma patients
• Monitor and respond to changes in patient condition with sound clinical judgment
• Manage ventilated patients, arterial lines, central lines, vasoactive drips, and blood products
• Interpret telemetry and dysrhythmias and support rapid intervention when needed
• Assist with advanced ICU procedures and therapies, including CRRT support
• Collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to promote safe, effective outcomes
• Float as needed within scope to support patient care across the critical care continuum
