Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU position requiring transplant experience and a compact or LA RN license.

Details

  • Work in a high-acuity Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) within a hospital setting
  • Patient population includes surgical recovery patients and transplant recovery patients (liver, heart, lung, kidney, pancreas)
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts (7:15 PM to 7:15 AM)
  • Float requirement to other ICUs and Step-Down Units (SDUs)
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • No call-in requirement for this position
  • No block scheduling requests accommodated

Requirements

  • Active RN license (Compact or LA) required in hand upon submission
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA certifications required)
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience in specialty required
  • Required transplant experience: liver, heart, lung, kidney, or pancreas
  • Experience with post cardiac surgery care (directly from the OR) required
  • Experience with Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT/CVVHD) required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Preferred experience with PA catheters and balloon pumps
  • Up-to-date NURSYS report required with profile

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to high-acuity surgical and transplant recovery patients
  • May be assigned to an Emergency Team requiring on-site presence during emergency events until relief arrives
  • Orientation is held five days a week
  • Candidates must reside more than 65 miles from the facility to be eligible
  • RTO must be documented on profile and discussed during interview
  • Two Manager/Supervisor references required to obtain clearance to start (Charge RNs not acceptable)
  • Previous permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must have a one-year separation from the health system before returning as a travel RN
  • First-time travelers are not being considered for this role
