Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU position requiring MICU/SICU experience and Trauma Level I exposure.

Details

• Work in the SICU treating complex, high acuity medical, trauma, neuro, and surgical ICU patients
• 1:2 patient ratio
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30), block scheduling available for day/night shifts
• Floating primarily within the Critical Care Division, with occasional floating to other units based on census needs
• Weekend requirements vary based on unit needs
• Cerner charting system preferred

Requirements

• Active RN license (MT or Compact) currently in hand
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS; PALS preferred
• Minimum 1+ year of specialty ICU experience required (MICU and/or SICU)
• Float pool-only ICU experience does not meet position requirements
• Trauma Level I experience required; Trauma Level II experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Charge experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, central and PICC line care, blood product administration, and TPN/lipids
• Experience with ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and care of tracheostomy and BiPAP/CPAP patients
• Experience managing patients with CVA, TBI, post-craniotomy, and post-neurosurgery conditions
• Experience with vasoactive and cardiac drip titration, continuous IV sedation, and emergency medications
• Experience with CVVHD/CRRT and management of acute/chronic renal failure
• References required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide independent, competent care for complex, high acuity ICU patients across medical, surgical, neuro, and trauma populations
• Support massive transfusion protocols and monitor for abdominal compartment syndrome
• Assist with chest tube insertion/removal and manage patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
• Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel pay rate
• Local candidates within 75 miles will not be accepted for this position
• Previous permanent employees must have a 2-year break in service before being eligible for return
• License or background check hits considered on a case-by-case basis
• This is not an entry-level position; prior specialty ICU experience is required
