Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced SICU RN for a Level II Trauma Center, requiring VA or compact license and strong cardiovascular ICU experience.

Details

• Work in the Surgical ICU of a Level II Trauma Center hospital
• Care for trauma, CV surgery (TAVR, CABG), neurosurgery, and complex surgical patients
• Patient ratios of 1:2-3, adjusted for skill level and acuity during float assignments
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 19:00-07:00
• Weekend requirement every other weekend
• No on-call requirements
• Floating within scope required to meet facility needs, including to non-ICU units with standard ratios ranging from 1:4 to 1:6
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Preferred certifications: CSC, TNCC
• Minimum 2 years of SICU or related critical care experience required
• Strong cardiovascular experience strongly preferred
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Community hospital experience required
• Level II Trauma Center experience required
• Skilled in arterial line management, blood product administration, central line and PICC line care
• Experience managing ventilated patients and interpreting ABGs
• Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Experience with CRRT/CVVHD and chronic/acute renal failure care
• Experience managing dysrhythmias and multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
• Experience with continuous IV sedation and procedural sedation monitoring
• Preferred experience with ICP monitoring, Impella, IABP, and Swan Ganz monitoring
• Experience with IV insulin protocols

Additional Information

• Provide specialized critical care to trauma, cardiovascular surgery, neurosurgery, and complex surgical patients
• Manage dysrhythmias, ventilated patients, and multisystem organ dysfunction
• Facility is a Short-Term Acute Care, Level II Trauma Center with 431 staffed beds
• Scrub color required: navy blue
• Up to 8 hours of pre-start training modules required within 1 week of signing
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restriction
• RTO requests subject to manager's discretion
• Returning travelers must have a 1-year separation from the facility before reapplying
• Travel pairs may be considered but matching schedules are not guaranteed
