Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,950–$2,060
- Position: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU)
- Location: York, Pennsylvania
- Start Date: October 26, 2026
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks, ending January 25, 2027
- Shift: Night shift, 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week; 36 hours per week
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Work two of the three designated major holiday periods when applicable
- Unit: 10-bed Surgical Intensive Care Unit
- Patient Ratio: Approximately 1 nurse to 2 patients
- Call: Not required
- Floating: May float to other intensive care units based on operational needs
SICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- At least 2 years of recent Registered Nurse experience in a Surgical Intensive Care Unit or comparable critical-care setting
- Active Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in Pennsylvania and a professional record in good standing
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA or ARC
- TNCC certification preferred
- Recent Epic electronic health record experience required
- Experience caring for ventilated patients and managing complex surgical and critically ill patients
- Proficiency with arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes, blood products, continuous IV sedation, and vasoactive medication titration
- Experience with CRRT/CVVHD, BiPAP/CPAP, dysrhythmia management, ABG interpretation, and emergency medications
- Ability to care for patients requiring isolation precautions and appropriate PPE
- Willingness to care for patients with complex abdominal, vascular, thoracic, and oncologic surgical diagnoses
- Facility vaccination requirements apply, with exemptions handled according to applicable policy
Travel SICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a high-acuity Surgical Intensive Care Unit
- Monitor and manage patients following complex procedures, including EVAR, TEVAR, TCAR, Whipple procedures, radical neck surgery, gynecologic oncology surgery, and major abdominal surgery
- Care for patients with vascular conditions, necrotizing fasciitis, multisystem organ dysfunction, acute or chronic renal failure, and open abdomens
- Manage ventilators, BiPAP/CPAP, CRRT, wound vacs, arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes, and continuous infusions
- Assess patient conditions, interpret ABGs and dysrhythmias, and promptly escalate changes in status
- Administer blood products, emergency medications, sedation, and vasoactive drips in accordance with clinical protocols
- Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, IV teams, rehabilitation, social services, rapid response teams, and other support disciplines
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in Epic
- Promote patient safety, infection prevention, compassionate communication, and continuity of care
