Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU position requiring transplant recovery experience and a Compact or LA RN license.

Details

• Work in a high-acuity Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) with transplant ICU responsibilities
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours), 18:45-07:15, with possible accommodation for 4x12 schedules
• Float requirement to other ICUs and step-down units (SDUs)
• Care for post-op surgical recovery patients, including liver, heart, lung, kidney, and pancreas transplant recipients
• No on-call requirement
• Epic EMR experience required
• 13-week assignment length

Requirements

• Active RN license (Compact or Louisiana) required in hand at time of submission
• Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience in the specialty required
• Hard requirement: prior experience with transplant recovery (liver, heart, lung, kidney, or pancreas)
• Experience with Post Cardiac Surgery care (directly from the OR) required
• Preferred experience with PA catheters and balloon pumps
• Experience with Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT/CVVHD) preferred
• Previous travel RN experience required
• Must reside more than 65 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Current NURSYS report required, dated within 4 weeks of submission
• Two Manager/Supervisor references required (Charge RN references not accepted)

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing for high-acuity surgical and transplant ICU patients
• May be assigned to an emergency response team during facility emergencies, which could require staying on-site until the event concludes
• Orientation is held five days a week
• No block scheduling requests accepted
• Candidates must have requested time off (RTO) documented on their profile and discussed during the interview to avoid offer rescission
• Local candidates are not accepted for this position
• Previous Ochsner Health System employees (permanent staff or in-house agency) must have a one-year separation before returning as a travel employee
