Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Surgical ICU RN for a night shift assignment requiring hemodynamic monitoring expertise and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

• Surgical ICU setting caring for post-surgical and critically ill patients
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45-7:15)
• Every other weekend required
• Potential floating to other ICUs and Step-Down Units
• Epic EMR used
• No call-in requirement

Requirements

• Active RN license, Compact or Louisiana license required in hand
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications (AHA required)
• Minimum 2 years of Surgical ICU experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required (no first-time travelers)
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, CVP monitoring, and CRRT required
• Experience with IV therapy including blood product administration, central line, and PICC line management required
• Experience with drip titration required
• Experience with chest tube insertion/removal and care of ventilated patients required
• Experience with pre/post cardiac cath intervention and post cardiac surgery care required
• Two Manager/Supervisor references required prior to start (Charge RNs not accepted)
• Up-to-date NURSYS report required with profile

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to complex surgical and post-cardiac surgery patients
• Experience with liver, kidney, pancreas, heart, or lung transplant recovery is a plus but not required
• Experience with LVAD/RVAD and high-acuity ICU care is a plus
• Orientation held five days a week
• Must live more than 65 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Willing to work 2 of 4 designated holiday periods annually (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)
• May be assigned to an emergency response team requiring extended on-site presence during emergency events
• Previous Ochsner Health staff or in-house agency contractors must have a one-year separation before returning as a travel RN
• RTO must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process
