Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU position requiring 2+ years of SICU experience and Compact or LA RN licensure.

Details

• Surgical ICU (SICU) setting
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45-07:15)
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Every other weekend required
• Floating potentially to other ICUs and Step-Down Units
• No call-in shifts required
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active RN license (Compact or LA) required in hand upon consideration
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Surgical ICU setting required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA certifications required)
• Experience with hemodynamic monitoring including Central Venous Pressure (CVP) and Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) required
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, post cardiac surgery, and pre/post cardiac catheterization intervention required
• Experience with IV therapy including blood product administration, central line management, and PICC line management required
• Experience with drip titration and chest tube insertion/removal required
• Experience caring for ventilated patients required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• First-time travelers will not be considered
• Two Manager/Supervisor references required to obtain clearance to start (Charge RNs not accepted)
• Up-to-date NURSYS report required (within 4 weeks of submission)

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity Surgical ICU setting
• Experience with liver, kidney, pancreas, heart, or lung transplant recovery is a plus but not required
• LVAD/RVAD and heart or lung transplant recovery experience preferred
• Must be willing to work 2 of 4 designated holiday periods annually (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)
• Orientation held five days a week
• Candidates may be assigned to an Emergency Team requiring facility presence during declared emergency events
• Must live more than 65 miles from the facility to be eligible
• RTO must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process
• Previous permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must be separated from the health system for one full year before returning as a travel employee
