Centra Healthcare Solutions is seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher (SPED) that is certified in the state of practice to work in a school setting. This is a contract position. M-Th 7:45am - 3:00p, Fridays 8am - 3pm schedule. This role assumes responsibility and accountability for incorporating the vision, values, mission and critical goals of the organization into their job performance. Duties and Responsibilities Include: Provide direct instruction in a classroom setting while embedding visual efficiency skills by following the school's curricula. Assist in the scheduling of homeroom, academic, and special classes. Develop lesson plans and activities based on common core standards addressed within academic activities for academic and social growth. Evaluate and assess the academic and social skills of students. Facilitate the development of the IEP for students assigned to their classroom. Seek input from team members including parents. Report progress to parents and CSE's. Collect, analyze and report using data collection processes, including behavior data. Attend and/or facilitate staff and in-service meetings as appropriate. Work collaboratively with team members to effectively support all students in program assignments. Must be competent and proficient with current technological methods and must have excellent communication, organizational and facilitation skills. Requirements include: PA Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired required. M.Ed. preferred; dual certification is preferred (TVI/COMS). TVI certificate is required. Knowledge of educating students with multiple disabilities, including visual impairment. Must be able to lift, push, or pull-up to 25 lbs. Clearances for Acts 34 (PA Criminal), 114 (FBI) and 151 (Child Abuse) are required.
