- Completion of an AMA-sponsored School of Radiologic Technology
- Proficient in general diagnostic radiology, neuro and vascular interventional examinations
- Compliance with the ARRT Rules and Regulation and the ARRT Standards of Ethics
Description:
The technologist must be proficient in all areas of general diagnostic radiology.
They will perform neuro and vascular interventional examinations in accordance with established protocols.
These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations.
They must apply knowledge of growth and development over the lifespan.
They should apply the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
Assessment of data reflective of each patient's status is required.
Interpreting information needed to identify each patient’s age requirements relative to their specific healthcare needs is essential.
Responsibilities include:
- Receiving patients, explaining procedures, and answering all patient questions and concerns.
- Monitoring and assisting patients before, during, and after the examinations.
- Providing first aid and CPR to patients when necessary.
- Transporting patients as needed.
- Performing as a scrub technician in special procedures.
- Performing a variety of special imaging examinations using established or dictated protocols.
- Reconstructing images, archiving, and transferring information to the system.
- Operating imaging and related equipment according to manufacturer specifications.
- Assisting radiologists in performing various imaging examinations using sterile techniques.
- If certified, placing PICC lines in the Interventional lab under the direction of a physician.
- Completing appropriate orders in a timely manner.
- Ensuring proper order entry, including correcting orders.
- Performing quality control and maintaining pertinent local, state, and federal records as applicable.
