Experience:
Minimum of three years' technical experience preferred
Experience as Special Procedures Technologist preferred
License:
Radiologic Tech (RT) in the state of practice required
Certifications:
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification preferred
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Essential Functions:
Operates diagnostic imaging equipment to produce contrast-enhanced radiographs of the heart and cardiovascular system during cardiac catheterization.
Positions and immobilizes patients on the examining table, using head and shoulder braces and following specified protocols.
Assists physicians with specialized procedures, including special exams.
Enters technical factors determined by protocol, such as the amount and quality of the radiation beam and specified filming sequence, into the computer.
Raises and lowers the examining table and manipulates and positions the x-ray tube in response to instructions from physicians.
Starts automatic injection of contrast medium into blood vessels of patients.
Activates fluoroscope and motion picture camera to produce images that assist physicians in guiding the catheter through the cardiovascular system of patients.
Provides patients with procedure explanations in preparation for exams and provides clear discharge instructions.
Observes gauges, recorders, and video screens of the multichannel data analysis system during imaging of the cardiovascular system.
Alerts physicians to changes in patient responses.
Monitors and controls environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, and electrical safety.
Assists physicians in interventional procedures, such as instilling enzymes or inserting balloons in blood vessels to remove plaque or other blockage.
Maintains accurate and updated documentation, adhering to program standards.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Organizational Requirements:
All associates are required to receive all vaccinations as a condition of employment and annually thereafter where applicable.

Participates in E-Verify.
This department performs before, during, and after care of invasive, interventional, and therapeutic procedures/studies to treat cardiac and vascular disorders, cardiac rhythm abnormalities, and to implant and remove devices.
