Certifications:
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification preferred
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Client Fire and Life Safety (HLFS) certification required
- Fluoroscopy (FLUORO) certification required
- Prevention and Management of Violent Behavior (PVMB) or Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (TEAM) or Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) required
Must-Have:
- Associates Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience preferred
- Bachelor's Degree in radiologic technology or equivalent preferred
- Experience as Special Procedures Technologist preferred
Description:
Responsibilities include performing, assisting, and completing cardiac and vascular radiographic examinations.
The role involves actively performing radiographic interventional procedures in a cardiovascular lab.
Equipment is operated to produce digital images of designated body portions as ordered by physicians.
Patients are positioned and instructed for examinations, and specialized studies are performed.
Clinical care is provided efficiently using high technical and organizational skills along with critical thinking ability.
The position also involves modeling, mentoring, and training staff on technical skills.
Input into hiring and promotion decisions for staff is provided.
Diagnostic imaging equipment is operated to produce contrast-enhanced radiographs of the heart and cardiovascular system during procedures.
Patients are positioned and immobilized on examining tables using specified protocols.
Assistance is provided to physicians with specialized procedures.
Technical factors determined by protocol are entered into the computer.
The examining table is raised and lowered, and the x-ray tube is manipulated according to physician instructions.
Automatic injection of contrast medium into the blood vessels of patients is started.
Fluoroscope and motion picture camera (cinefluorography) are activated to produce imaging that aids in guidance during procedures.
Patients receive clear explanations of procedures in preparation for exams and are given discharge instructions.
Observations of gauges, recorders, and video screens are conducted to monitor patient responses.
Physicians are alerted to changes in patient responses.
Environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, and electrical safety are monitored and controlled.
Assistance is given during interventional procedures, such as instilling enzymes or inserting balloons in blood vessels to remove obstructions.
Accurate and updated documentation is maintained, adhering to program standards.
Other job-related duties may be assigned as needed.
Safety and wellbeing of associates and patients are prioritized.
All associates must receive required vaccinations as a condition of employment.

This department performs before, during, and after care of invasive, interventional, and therapeutic procedures.
