Job Title: Sr. Special Procedures Technologist Profession: Sr. Special Procedures Technologist Specialty: Sr. Special Procedures Technologist Duration: 8 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: Minimum of three years’ technical experience preferred License: Required Radiologic Tech (RT) license in the state of practice Certifications: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification preferred Must-Have: Recent EPIC experience Description: Performs, assists, and completes Cardiac and Vascular Radiographic examinations. Performs active radiographic interventional procedures in the cardiovascular lab using a variety of complicated and sophisticated equipment. Operates equipment to produce digital images of designated body portions, as ordered by physicians. Positions and instructs patients for examinations and performs specialized studies. Provides clinical care efficiently and effectively using a high level of technical and organizational skills as well as critical thinking ability. Models, mentors, and trains staff on technical skills. Provides input into hiring and promotion decisions for staff. Operates diagnostic imaging equipment to produce contrast-enhanced radiographs of heart and cardiovascular system during cardiac catheterization to aid physicians in diagnostic evaluation and treatment. Positions and immobilizes the patient on the examining table, using head and shoulder braces and following specified protocols. Assists physicians with specialized procedures, including special exams. Enters technical factors determined by protocol into the computer. Raises and lowers the examining table and manipulates and positions the x-ray tube in response to instructions from the physician. Starts automatic injection of contrast medium into blood vessels of the patient. Activates fluoroscope and motion picture camera to produce images that assist the physician in guiding the catheter through the cardiovascular system of the patient. Provides patients with procedure explanations in preparation for exams and provides clear discharge instructions. Observes gauges, recorder, and video screens of multichannel data analysis system that indicates vital parameters during imaging of the cardiovascular system. Alerts the physician to changes in patient responses. Monitors and controls environmental factors, such as temperature, humidity, and electrical safety. Assists the physician in interventional procedures to remove plaque or other blockages. Maintains accurate and updated documentation in adherence with program standards. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Organizational Requirements: The organization is committed to the safety and wellbeing of associates and patients. This department performs before, during, and after care of invasive, interventional, and therapeutic procedures and studies to treat cardiac and vascular disorders and conduct therapeutic ablations.
