Certification of clinical competence in Speech-Language Pathology. Description: The Speech-Language Pathologist I/II/Advanced Speech-Language Pathologist I/II position provides quality speech and/or language therapy services to a diverse population. The therapist will plan and administer medically based speech therapy for inpatient and outpatient services. Responsibilities include assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results for patients of all ages, from birth through geriatric. The therapist will document findings and treatment plans in electronic health records. Treatment plans are determined by physician referral or in consultation with physicians, setting realistic goals based on individual needs. Adjustments and modifications to therapy plans are recommended based on patient progress. The position requires documentation of assessments, treatment, follow-up, and termination of services in patient records. The therapist selects and constructs therapies according to each patient’s goals and needs. Instructing patients, families, and staff in appropriate speech-language procedures and home programs is essential for continuity of care. Specialty services may include swallowing evaluation, cognitive treatment, voice treatment, and pediatric speech/language therapy. The role may also involve providing specialty clinics, including geriatric clinic and adaptive equipment evaluation/treatment. Collaboration with the Physical Rehabilitation team and other healthcare professionals is vital. Compliance with federal and state certification requirements is mandatory. The therapist also participates in quality improvement, risk management, and safety initiatives. Training and in-service education for students and staff are part of the responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned as necessary. Maintaining credentialing to serve on the Medical Staff is required.
