Description

Job Title: Speech Therapist II Profession: Speech Therapist Specialty: - Duration: 14 weeks Shift: Monday - Friday Hours per Shift: 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM Experience: Eighteen (18) months of experience as a Speech-Language Pathologist. License: Current licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist in the State of California. Certifications: Current BLS Certification required. Must-Have: - Experience and knowledge base in a wide range of diagnoses including general medicine, orthopedics, neurology, cardiopulmonary, gastroenterology, and otolaryngology. - Home health experience required. - Home bedside swallow experience and the ability to manage a full workload from the start of the contract. - Experience with geriatrics required. Description: The Speech Therapist assesses patients for speech-related therapy needs. Establishes treatment goals. Develops and implements an appropriate Speech Pathology treatment program. Reviews medical history and applies screening tests. Meets with patients to determine clinical needs, impairments, functional limitations, and disabilities. Establishes a plan of care in collaboration with patients and families, including expected intensity and duration of therapy. Makes recommendations for discharge. Provides education to patients, families, and caregivers regarding the purpose of activity, use of equipment, home exercise, and activity. Performs regular re-examinations and seeks feedback from patients, families, and the multidisciplinary medical team. Manages multiple patients simultaneously. Provides services and required documentation timely, accurately, and in accordance with professional and regulatory standards. Participates in outside continuing education and incorporates information into practice. Performs other duties as assigned. Assists with orienting new staff and acts as a clinical instructor for interns. Conducts literature reviews and staff consultations as needed. Attends specific clinical education coursework that meet the guidelines of the California Board of Physical Therapy and provides in-services to staff.
