Key Responsibilities
  • Provide speech-language pathology services in a high-acuity inpatient setting at a Level 1 Trauma Center and comprehensive stroke center
  • Evaluate and treat medically complex patients, including those requiring acute tracheostomy and ventilator management
  • Perform instrumental swallowing assessments including Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) and/or Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES)
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary medical teams to develop and implement individualized patient care plans
  • Document patient evaluations, progress, and treatment plans accurately using an electronic medical records system
Required Qualifications
  • Active Massachusetts Speech Language Pathologist license required
  • ASHA (American Speech-Language-Hearing Association) certification required
  • Minimum of 4–5 years of experience in acute inpatient care (inpatient rehabilitation experience does not meet this requirement)
  • Demonstrated experience with acute tracheostomy and ventilator-dependent patients
  • Full competency in MBS or FEES
  • Proficiency with Epic electronic medical records system
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Competency in both MBS and FEES instrumental swallowing assessments
  • Prior experience in a Level 1 Trauma Center or Joint Commission-designated comprehensive stroke center
  • Experience managing highly complex, acutely ill patient populations
