Description

American Traveler is hiring a Step Down RN for a night shift contract requiring KY or compact RN licensure and 2 years of relevant experience.

Details

• Step Down/PCU unit setting supporting telemetry, IMC, and DOU patient populations
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Night shift schedule of rotating 3x12 and 4x12 hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:30 AM), totaling 84 hours per two-week pay period
• Meditech charting system preferred
• Floating required within scope of practice
• Every other weekend required
• Blocked scheduling cannot be accommodated

Requirements

• Active KY or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• AVADE Level I & II certification preferred
• 2 years of recent Step Down/PCU experience required
• 3-6 months of Level IV Trauma or above experience
• Skills required include IV therapy, central and peripheral line care, blood product administration, and cardiac drip management
• Experience with chest tubes, BiPAP/CPAP, tracheostomy care, and high flow nasal cannula
• Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and cardiac monitoring
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions
• 2 professional references required: 1 Charge or higher and 1 supervisor, completed within the last year
• Driver's license required with address matching permanent address
• Copy of certifications required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide step-down level nursing care to cardiac, renal, neurological, and post-surgical patients
• Manage patients with CVA, post-TPA care, seizure disorders, and substance withdrawal
• Support oncology patients including chemotherapy monitoring
• Care for orthopedic and cardiovascular patients, including post-MI and cardiac catheterization
• Flu vaccine required, with medical and religious exemptions reviewed case-by-case
• Must reside within a 75-mile radius of the facility to be eligible; local candidates within this radius will not be accepted
• Up to 7 days of RTO considered if presented upfront prior to start; no changes accepted once submitted
• Must work either a major or minor holiday for every holiday period
• Travelers must take a minimum 6-month break after working one year before returning to this system
• Traveler pairs accepted on a limited basis and will not be scheduled on the same shift or unit
• New travelers considered based on relevant experience in Level IV or above trauma settings
