Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med Surg/Stepdown RN for a night shift position requiring 2 years of med surg experience and comfort floating between MS/Tele and PCU/Stepdown units.

Details

• 22-bed adult Med Surg Oncology unit (5T) with frequent floating to Stepdown and MS/Tele units
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 19:00-7:00
• Patient ratios: Stepdown 1:4-5, Med Surg 1:5-6
• Weekday schedule with every other weekend and holiday rotation as needed
• Frequent floating required within the hospital, staff must be comfortable with high patient-to-caregiver ratios
• Uses Meditech EMR
• 13-week contract length with possible extension

Requirements

• Active SC or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of med surg experience required
• Stepdown/PCU experience required due to floating expectations
• IV start skills required
• Meditech charting experience preferred but not required
• Travel experience preferred but not required

Additional Information

• Care for adult med surg and oncology patients with frequent cross-training to stepdown/telemetry units
• Scrubs not provided; royal blue/white required
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Previous employees must have been gone at least 1 year and left in good standing to reapply
• Minimal to no RTO approved, especially during the first weeks of the assignment
• Expect to work some holidays and weekends in rotation with staff
• Facility does not accept candidates with license or background issues
