Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Stepdown/Intermediate Care position requiring Cerner experience, ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications, with a minimum of 2 years of experience.
Details
- 22-bed Stepdown/Intermediate Care unit in a hospital setting
- Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (0700–1930)
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Every other weekend required
- Every other holiday required
- Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals based on census and volume
- No on-call responsibilities
- Charting via Cerner PowerChart (experience required)
- Caribbean Blue scrubs required
Requirements
- Active Michigan (MI) RN license required; license may be pending
- Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- CPI certification preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of stepdown or intermediate care RN experience required
- Cerner PowerChart experience required
- Proficiency in cardiac telemetry monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, and cardiac drip management (titrating and non-titrating)
- Experience with IV therapy, central line care, PICC line management, and peripheral line care
- Experience with neurological conditions including CVA, intracranial bleeds, TBI, and substance withdrawal
- Experience with heparin protocols and thrombolytic agents
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

- Charge nurse experience is preferred
- Travelers must complete up to 8 hours of pre-start online modules within 1 week of signing; modules are self-reported and completed before the assignment begins
- Max RTO is 10 days; if RTO falls during the holidays, the traveler must be available to work at least 1 of the 3 holidays
- Candidates who have previously worked at this facility must have been gone for at least 3 years before returning as a traveler
- All required certifications must be obtained prior to start; pending certifications are accepted
- Nursys background check policy applies
- This is considered a sensitive account; professional conduct, including attendance and behavior, is held to a high standard and issues may result in contract termination
- 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years are required for consideration
- A full 7-year work history with all gaps explained is required for consideration
