Description

American Traveler is seeking a Step-down/PCU RN for a night shift assignment requiring at least 1 year of experience and an active OH or compact RN license.

Details

• Step-down/PCU unit within a hospital setting
• Adult and geriatric patient population
• Common cases include burns, plastic/reconstructive surgery, urology, GYN, ENT, and oral/maxillofacial surgeries
• Special procedures include burn dressings, flap checks, and leech therapy
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-7:30), 36 hours per week
• Every other/third weekend required
• Floating within the OSU system required

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Skills include IV therapy/phlebotomy, arterial line management, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience with feeding tube care, heparin protocols, and PCA management
• Cardiac monitoring skills including dysrhythmia interpretation/management, telemetry (unit and remote), and rapid response/code team activation
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac
• Experience with IV insulin protocols and insulin drip titration
• Experience in respiratory care including nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, and oxygen administration
• Experience with neurological/psychiatric care and substance withdrawal management
• Experience with surgical drain management
• Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager/director or supervisor; charge RN acceptable for second reference; no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care within a step-down/PCU unit supporting complex adult and geriatric cases
• Participate in fingerprinting process promptly after signing contract due to Ohio state requirements
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Former employees eligible for assignment consideration after 6 months away from the facility
• Current OSU hospital employees are not eligible for traveler positions at any Ohio State University hospital location
• RTO must be submitted with the initial application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
