Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Step-Down/Intermediate Care Unit position requiring telemetry proficiency and cardiac drip experience, with night shift availability and every-other-weekend commitment.

Details

  • Short-term acute care hospital setting on a 7th Floor Intermediate/Step-Down unit
  • Night shift schedule: 7p–7:30a (3x12-hour shifts)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Every other holiday required
  • Patient ratio of 1:5
  • Cardiac and telemetry patient population including cardiac, stroke, and renal patients
  • Cardiac drip exposure including Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Lasix
  • All modes of oxygenation except ventilators
  • Unit has hemodialysis-capable beds; HD performed by an outside company
  • Floating required within scope to like or lesser units, including potentially to affiliate hospitals based on census
  • Charting system: Cerner (experience required)
  • Royal blue or white scrubs required

Requirements

  • Active Indiana or Compact RN license required (pending license accepted if active prior to start date)
  • Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required (2 years preferred)
  • Telemetry and cardiac/stroke experience required
  • Cardiac drip titration experience required
  • Proficiency in reading, identifying, and reacting to cardiac rhythms is mandatory
  • Cerner EMR experience required
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
  • Must pass a telemetry rhythm identification quiz prior to placement

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Travelers must have been gone at least 3 years before returning as a traveler to this facility
  • RTO is capped at 10 days for the duration of the contract; if RTO falls during a holiday period, the traveler must be willing to work at least 1 of the 3 holidays
  • Pre-start online modules (up to 8 hours) must be completed within 1 week of signing; modules are self-reported and completed before the start date
  • Professional conduct is taken very seriously at this facility; unprofessional behavior or shift call-offs may result in immediate contract termination
  • Background check conducted via Nursys
  • Up to $9/day for garage parking on day shifts; overnight garage parking is free; free parking also available in designated outdoor associate lots
