Job Description
The Step-Down RN will provide high-quality nursing care to patients with complex medical conditions in a step-down unit. The role involves monitoring patient health, administering medication, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and assess patient vital signs and neurological status.
- Manage cardiac drips and medications, including emergency medications.
- Provide post-cardiac catheterization care and monitor vascular procedures.
- Utilize advanced respiratory support techniques such as BiPAP and CPAP.
- Conduct frequent cardiovascular assessments and dysrhythmia management.
- Perform IV starts, PICC line management, and blood product administration.
- Adhere to infection prevention protocols and isolation precautions.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- 2+ years of recent step-down nursing experience.
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.
- Experience with cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation.
- Familiarity with Allscripts charting system preferred.
