Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced IMCU/Step Down RN for a 13-week travel assignment requiring OR license, Epic charting experience, and higher-acuity patient care skills.

Details

  • Work in the Step Down/IMCU unit of a short term acute care teaching hospital
  • Care for higher-acuity intermediate care patients including trach and ventilator patients, complex cardiac and respiratory cases, and patients on critical care drips/titrated infusions
  • Patient ratios of 1:3 and 1:4
  • Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
  • Every other weekend required
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Floating required between units and to nearby affiliate/sister facilities based on skill set
  • Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

  • Active RN license, OR license required (may submit with license pending unless otherwise specified)
  • Current certifications: BLS and ACLS required, NIHSS preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience required
  • IMCU/Step Down experience required, Telemetry-only experience not accepted
  • Experience with tracheostomy care and management of ventilated patients
  • Experience with central line and peripheral line care/management
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and management
  • Experience managing cardiac drips required, titration of cardiac drips and insulin drips preferred
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Must have a vehicle for this assignment

Additional Information

  • Provide high-acuity nursing care to step-down/intermediate care patients including cardiac, respiratory, and ventilator-dependent cases
  • Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply for this position
  • Former permanent employees at the facility must wait at least 3 months before returning as a travel RN and must not reside within 50 miles of the facility
  • Scrub color is flexible for most units; OR/Cath Lab scrubs are provided by the facility
  • No parking fees at this facility
  • Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for travel rate, though local candidates may be accepted at a lower bill rate
